Kundiman is a traditional Filipino genre of sentimental love songs, originating in the 19th century, known for its emotional,3/4 time signature, and dramatic, melodic flow. It derives from the Tagalog phrase “kung hindi man” (“if it were not so”), expressing unrequited love, deep longing, and, often, hidden patriotic devotion.

The Kundiman Canada Tour 2026 features iconic OPM bands Silent Sanctuary and Hale, with special guests Moonstar88, touring several Canadian cities in May 2026. The tour includes stops in Saskatoon, Vancouver, Whitehorse, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Toronto, featuring hits like “Sa’yo” and “The Day You Said Goodnight”.

Hale is a Filipino alternative rock band, formed in Manila, Philippines in 2004. The group originally consisted of singer and guitarist Champ Lui Pio, bassist Sheldon Gellada, guitarist Roll Martinez and drummer Omnie Saroca. This line-up remained unchanged until the departure of Saroca in 2008; he was then replaced by Paolo Santiago. In March 2017, Chino David of Silent Sanctuary became the band’s fifth member.

Silent Sanctuary is a 6-piece Filipino rock band that was formed in Metro Manila, Philippines in 2001. Five studio albums have been released by the band throughout its career.

Moonstar88 is a Filipino rock band formed in Manila, Philippines in 1999.
