Kundiman is a traditional Filipino genre of sentimental love songs, originating in the 19th century, known for its emotional,3/4 time signature, and dramatic, melodic flow. It derives from the Tagalog phrase “kung hindi man” (“if it were not so”), expressing unrequited love, deep longing, and, often, hidden patriotic devotion. The Kundiman Canada Tour 2026 features iconic OPM bands Silent Sanctuary and Hale, with special guests Moonstar88, touring several Canadian cities in May 2026. The tour includes stops in Saskatoon, Vancouver, Whitehorse, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Toronto, featuring hits like “Sa’yo” and “The Day You Said Goodnight”. Hale is a Filipino alternative rock band, formed in Manila, Philippines in 2004.
